Ingredients Cake: 12 tablespoons unsalted butter, soft 2 cups sugar 5 egg white, room tempurature 1 egg, room tempurature 1 cup milk 2 teaspoons vanilla 3 cups flour 1 tablespoon + 1 teaspoon baking powder ¾ teaspoon salt Frosting: 1 cup unsalted butter
Instructions: Preheat oven to 350 degrees and prepare 8 inch round pans - 2 or 3 depending on preference Cake: In a large bowl whisk together dry ingredients In a separate bowl whisk together wet ingredients Mix wet ingredients into dry ingredients a little at a time until all combined
Pour into pans and bake 30 minutes, cool completely Filling: In a saucepan over medium high heat mash strawberries and stir in sugar and cornstarch Bring to a boil then reduce and cook 5 minutes to thicken Cool completely Frosting:
Cream butter and shortening then slowly add in powdered sugar and vanilla Lastly mix in melted but slightly cooled white chocolate Pipe a frosting barrier around bottom cakes to hold the filling Add filling and place in refrigerator to allow frosting and filling to firm up Frost entire cake and garnish with additional white chocolate shavings, strawberries, etc.
